Keeping up with the Joneses’ is not the way to wealth and prosperity. Of course, if you are only interested in appearing to be wealthy instead of actually having real wealth then you just keep on watching and competing with those neighbors “the Joneses”.
Author, Thomas J. Stanley, who wrote the bestseller from 1996, “The Millionaire Next Door” is back with a new book touting the same concepts. “Stop Acting Rich and Start Acting Like a Real Millionaire” was just released on September 28. 2009 and it
“Contains some surprising data that makes for a convincing argument supporting a simple lifestyle as a path to security.” (Associated Press)
Stanley has always expounded in his books that the way to real wealth is not through accumulating more “stuff” but from actually accumulating money and wealth.
And the truth of the matter is that it is highly likely that the “Joneses” are up to their eyeballs in debt and they have no wealth whatsoever…..but they do have the private schools, the fancy clothes and the luxury cars.
I’ve heard that described in another way….Texas style…….
“Big Hat, No Cattle!”
