Holiday Shopping Figures Point To Good News

by Karen on December 28, 2009

According to early figures released on Sunday, the 2009 Holiday shopping season was good news for retailers. In contrast to the previous year of 2008, major retailing categories showed modest increases in sales while others were slightly down but still showing an improvement over 2008.

Even so, many shoppers out on Saturday after Christmas claimed to be exchanging unnecessary and perhaps overly indulgent Christmas gifts for everyday necessities and continuing to carefully watch their spending.

While it is apparent that retailers are still recovering from the deep recession, early reports suggest that improvement is on the way.
