Can A Credit Card Company Change The Terms On A Closed Account?

It’s been happening a lot lately. Credit Card companies are not making the same profits as they were used to and so they are now unexpectedly raising rates, changing terms, reducing credit lines and more.

So if you get an unexpected surprise from your credit card holder and you decide to cancel the card, yet you still have a balance to pay off, can they change the terms again on the remaining balance that you still owe?
